Excellence in Engineering

A professional helicopter pilot’s dream is coming true. Discover how 45 years of aviation experience and German precision make the ClassiX one of the safest and most economical ultralight helicopters with German type certification.

ultra light · ultra safe · ultra cool

Helicopter flying is a fascinating and addictive pursuit. For our founder, Paul Ressle, the sky has always been more than just a workplace. A professional helicopter pilot, flight instructor, flight school operator, and examiner, he has accumulated thousands of flight hours over the past 45 years. However, the world of ultralight helicopters (ULH) in Germany developed late and only slowly starting in 2016, leaving a critical gap for professionals: there was no ULH aircraft that combined the proven technology of established helicopter manufacturers with the lightness and capabilities of the new UL class.
When the maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) was raised from 450 kg to 600 kg in 2019, the ClassiX was born. The increase in weight was the “game-changer” that created the design flexibility needed to build an ultralight helicopter that was uncompromisingly engineered for safety, reliability, ease of maintenance, sleek design, and state-of-the-art materials.

Our mission: Take the best and make it even better

True to the motto of Henry Royce (Rolls-Royce)—“A good approach was to take the best and make it better”—we founded EVOcopter in the heart of Europe. Our highly motivated team consists of experienced aerospace engineers, talented mechanics, CNC specialists, renowned designers, experienced pilots, and many others. The stated goal: to obtain German type certification for an ultralight helicopter that sets new standards!
This was achieved in a record time of just five years, and on December 8, 2025, the Evocopter team received the type certificate from the German Ultralight Aviation Association (DULV).

We are also proud that EVOcopter has been an officially recognized research and development organization by the Research Allowance Certification Office (BSFZ)—acting on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space—since 2025.

The “Lycoming Factor”: the cornerstone of our safety philosophy

The ClassiX’s key selling point is its drive system. We are the only mass-production manufacturer in the UL helicopter sector that installs the legendary Lycoming YO-360. With this 6-liter powerhouse under the hood, ClassiX drivers have one less thing to worry about. With its high power output and enormous torque, the engine effortlessly maintains the critical rotor speed within a safe range, even under the most challenging conditions—such as hot & high, MTOW, and demanding flight maneuvers. This “big-block” aircraft engine, built and optimized by global industry leader Lycoming for use in helicopters, embodies the KISS principle (keep it simple, stupid) to perfection. No complex water cooling system, no fragile turbocharger, no additional engine speed reduction gearbox, no fuel or water pumps, no tangled mess of sensors and cables… Components that are not present cannot fail and therefore do not need to be maintained or replaced.

Preserving value over the long term instead of letting assets sit idle in the hangar

Thanks to our maintenance schedule based on total flight time (TT) or “on condition,” the ClassiX does not lose value when it is parked in the hangar—unlike rigid calendar-based intervals. This fact, combined with simple and well-designed maintenance procedures, ensures that ClassiX owners get the best possible value for their money.
